Calling MyChores fans!

Filed under mychores | 2 Comments

I have added MyChores to sphred.com - a site for promoting other websites especially new ones. I know MyChores is not that new anymore, but it is still relatively unknown so i think this is a good idea.
Here's the link - please go vote!
You will need to sign in or sign up - which is [...]

On Twitter, and patience.

Filed under mychores, rant, web 2.x | No Comments

Somebody has written a post complaining about the performance of Twitter, and i have to say, i am upset at both the post and the comments in response.
I'm thinking if we get enough inspired commentary we might actually get some answers out of Twitter about why they have such a hard time just keeping the [...]

MyChores

Filed under mychores | 4 Comments

I have been working really hard on MyChores today. Ported it across to the new server, fixed a bunch of code issues ready for Rails 2.0 and tweaked the session storage method. The last of the DNS servers seem to be picking up the new location now; it seems to be going to the right [...]

An experiment

Filed under interesting, mychores, work | 6 Comments

I always find it very hard to adapt to the hour change - forwards or backwards, it doesn't matter - i always feel tired for about a week as i get used to it.
So this time i'm trying something different: just pretend it never happened! Whilst everyone else enjoyed an hour extra in bed, i [...]

A slow, lazy Caturday

Filed under lolcats, mychores, web 2.x | 2 Comments

Firstly, today's Caturday picture is extremely special because it features Lola's cat, Ivan!

Such a cutie!! :)
I was thinking of going to Basingstoke today but maybe i can't be bothered. I haven't really decided, which probably means i will end up not going. Perhaps i'll just look around Winchester instead. I have a £50 M&S voucher, [...]

What 'properly clean the oven' looks like

Filed under home, mychores | 2 Comments

Continuing my clean home pride, here is the oven just after i have thoroughly cleaned it:

I could have shown a picture of me laying on the floor to clean it, but it wouldn't have looked very attractive!
I love the feeling of pride i get just after i have finished cleaning something. I am definitely [...]

Caught out!

Filed under interesting, mychores | 2 Comments

In an email i just read from Cheryl:
i should have known that you're a virgo! … ONLY a virgo could come up with mychores! you know that, right?
I feel like somebody just caught me doing something shameful! I always like to deny that there can be any possible truth to astrology - it just [...]

VMware Server

Filed under computer, geeky, mychores | 7 Comments

I am totally thrilled - i have managed to install VMware Server and got Windows 98 running as a virtual machine! I connected up the network so that i can see MyChores running on the host machine, therefore enabling me to test on IE without having to borrow my partner's computer all the time.

That is [...]

I did it!

Filed under geeky, mychores | 6 Comments

I migrated the MyChores journal across to WordPress! I found some excellent scripts to perform the migration (not everything worked since the Typo journal was horribly out of date!) so i have all the posts and categories as before, plus there was some dark magic involved to keep the old permalink format and redirect the [...]
