My mystery UFO

Alright, can anyone explain this to me …

I've seen these for sale at the Hawkins Bazaar in Winchester. They refuse to open the box, and the staff all claim they don't know how it works. In any case, i found out that even if you do open the box there are no instructions; just a password that you can enter on a site to get the information. There must be something they are hiding.

There was a Yahoo! Answers question asked: "How does My Mystery Ufo toy work?" … it has been deleted.

My curiosity wants to know what this is all about, but i'm almost certain i'll be disappointed.

Update: Oh wait, i think i've got it. They wave their hands around it, but they don't wave a hand straight over the top. I think i have an idea what's going on. Yup, glad i didn't buy one!

  • Using an SCR silicon controlled rectifier, this device is attracted to the body charge like a whimhurst machine.

I got one of these for xmas, total waste of a tenner for some sparkly card and a piece of "kevlar" thread. This is nothing that you couldnt find in a Blue Peter Make .. there are going to be a lot of people peed off with this piece of crap endorsed by the sceince museum.

There is nothing scientific about this, it's pure fraud.

Put a tenner on the lottery, it's a much wiser investment!

The saucer will hover and propel itself using neutrons that cover its surface to ionize the surrounding air into plasma. Gases (such as air, which has an equal number of positive and negative charges) become plasma when energy (such as heat or electricity) causes some of the gas's atoms to lose their negatively charged electrons, creating atoms with a positive charge, or positive ions, surrounded by the newly detached electrons. Using an electrostatic source of energy , the neutrons will send an electrical current into the plasma, causing the plasma to push against the neutral (noncharged) air surrounding the craft, theoretically generating enough force for liftoff and movement in different directions (depending on where on the craft's surface you direct the electrical current).......... or to put it another way entirely...it's a piece of bl oody string
  • fantastic reply, thank you! :D

Dude it is a load of crap.
Very fine black hair type strings come with it with you attach to the stupid thing and your finger and then you have to hook the string behind your ear.
In the instrcutions, which is does come with inside the packet, it also says you shouldn't have it in bright lights or near white walls so the string can't be seen and that you should also wear a black jumper with some sort of white stiping to enhance the "illusion".
They falsely advertise this to be some magical thing and it it not.
I am so peeved off and I am taking it back to the supplier and I have gone on the UFO website and told them exactly where they can shove it.
    Regards
    Bronwyn

you attach a string between over your ear to the ufo
  • t
A bitter dissapointment. Don't waste your money.
  • raf
hi wat is ur idea if u think there is string i think it is wrong watch more of the videos in some of them wave thair hand on top on the botom and on the sides
  • 1234
The mystery UFO is worked by a invisible string tied on your hand and there's no magic in it so don't waste your money on one of these.
  • Vad
I think it got something to do with the holes on the top. When you put your hand over it, it creates a vacum which make it rise or move sideways. Unless you put something near by it does not change position.

Change in air pressure i think. Does anyone know if there is a pattern to copy it and build your own one? ;)
  • Hmm, nice theory ... but ... i actually think it has more to do with a thin piece of almost invisible string!
  • LOU CYPHER
Its charge coupled, like the galvanic skin response touch screen response to the user or touch sensitive lamps turn on and off with touch. Using an SCR silicon controlled rectifier, this device is attracted to the body charge like a whimhurst machine. Simple physics but uncomprehesible to all those half-breed retarded non educated youth of todays generation.....
  • psilas
LOL, yep, you definately been watching too much Dr Who.

I'm wondering how to describe the half-breed retards who haven't worked out ....
...............................'Its just a piece of kevlar'

LOL. 'Silicon controlled rectifier'. You're the one who should be silicon controlled.
  • Yeah, i had a suspicion it had something to do with String theory! :)
  • Al
    The string is the thing.

    There is also no Santa.
